So, you’re asking, “How do I know I’m saved?” It’s a big question and super relevant, especially when you’re navigating your faith journey.
First things first, let’s hit the core of it. Romans 10:9 lays it down: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” That’s the heart of the Gospel. If you’ve genuinely done this, you’re on track.
But how do you and other know for sure? We know based on whether or not someone evidences the Holy Spirit which God gives every believer. But, how do you know for sure you have the Holy Spirit?
One big way is to judge whether or not you are growing in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 talks about love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These aren’t just feel-good words; they’re real-life qualities that start showing up more and more as you connect with God.
Now, let’s talk about speaking in tongues. Like the fruit of the Spirit, it’s a gift of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible, like in 1 Corinthians 12:10, and it’s another clear evidence of the Holy Spirit residing within a person. Here’s the cool part: it’s something everyone can experience. In fact, it’s encouraged to desire this ability because it’s a powerful way to connect with God and strengthen your faith.
So, if you haven’t spoken in tongues yet, no stress. It’s something you can totally ask for and seek out. It’s one of the many ways the Holy Spirit works in us, and it’s a pretty awesome experience that deepens your spiritual journey.
